8/31/2023 0 Comments Equalizer on cbs![]() But absent of any particularly interesting twists, this “Equalizer” will do well to flesh out the essential qualities of the woman in its driver’s seat, and dig for novel ways to properly utilize the many talents of both Latifah, and McCall. McCall is a Black woman trying to level the playing field for people who too often run out of options. The series also wants to make it clear that she’s not just a woman who happens to be Black she’s a Black woman, although race won’t necessarily be a recurring theme throughout the season.Ī scene late in the pilot, in which McCall tenderly but firmly tells her daughter that Black girls aren’t especially favored by society’s odds, also underscores what audiences should expect as a running theme throughout the series. A key difference between both versions of the series, that creators and showrunners, Andrew Marlowe and Terri Miller, are likely banking on to help it stand out, is that its center of gravity is Latifah, who becomes only the fifth Black woman in the history of television to lead an hour-long broadcast network drama - after Teresa Graves (“Get Christie Love!”), Kerry Washington (“Scandal”), Viola Davis (“Hot to Get Away With Murder”), and Simone Missick (“All Rise”). Her presence alone won’t be enough to distinguish the series from the rest of CBS’ assembly-line slate. Of course, as a fighter for the proletariat, she follows them out of protective curiosity, and is soon drawn into a conspiracy that involves deep-fake videos, a murdered attorney, mercenaries, complemented by the usual car/motorcycle chases, fight sequences (watch Latifah effortlessly dispatch four goons), trite one-liners, and the like. It’s representative of the many series’ plot contrivances that McCall just happens to see the woman being ushered into some kind of storage facility at Coney Island, perhaps reluctantly, by a nondescript man, late one night. What prompts her to enter a new career of reformer is a chance entanglement with the case of a young woman - Jewel (Lorna Courtney) - framed for murder and on the run from the real killers, who are backed by an Elon Musk-esque tech executive. Like the male “Equalizer” characters, Latifah’s McCall is a former intelligence operative for the CIA who became disillusioned with the government’s methods and opted for civilian life. There are a number of callbacks to the original series, which the reboot relies on primarily (not the Denzel Washington movie adaptations), but they probably won’t mean anything to new audiences. ![]() As yet another one of CBS’ exhumations of classic last-century crime/drama series (including “MacGyver,” “Magnum P.I.,” “Hawaii Five-0,” “S.W.A.T.,” and more), this “Equalizer” feels thoroughly unoriginal. She’s an enigmatic former CIA operative who uses her particular set of rather extensive skills to help those with nowhere else to turn. ![]() In CBS’ New York City-set re-imagining of the 1980s series “ The Equalizer,” starring the late Edward Woodward as the stoic menace with a populist message, multi-hyphenate Queen Latifah plays Robyn McCal. ![]()

I mostly use my Farmhands for auto repeat things that I don't have to check on very often like trees, but I think only a few of my farms have Farmhands. I think maybe the Farmhands get the most use later game when the farm gets so big that the farm owner can't get to everything in the time they have and don't regularly have friends helping them out. The spike protein first attaches to ACE2 (angiotensin converting enzyme 2) receptors in the cell membranes (Pillay, 2020). The Spike Protein’s Toxic Effects in the Body These spike proteins are the focus of a great deal of ongoing research examining vaccine side effects (Belouzard et al., 2012 Shang et al., 2020). After this penetration, protein-dissolving enzymes are activated, the cell membrane breaks down, the viral sphere enters the cytoplasm through this membrane breach, and the metabolism of the cell is subsequently “hijacked” to manufacture more viral particles. And just as the porcupine stabs its victim, these spike proteins penetrate into cell membranes throughout the body. Known as spike proteins, they are very analogous to the quills surrounding a porcupine. The physical appearance of the COVID virus can been depicted as a central sphere of viral protein surrounded completely by spear-like appendages. Its physiological impact appears to be doing far more harm than good (COVID antibody induction), and its manner of introduction appears to be fueling its ongoing replication with a continuing presence inside the body for an indefinite length of time. The vaccine-induced “culprit” that is now receiving most of the attention and is the focus of much new research is the COVID virus fragment known as the spike protein. Nevertheless, enough vaccinations have already been administered to warrant concern that a new “pandemic” of illness and death may well be emerging from the side effects that continue to be documented in steadily increasing numbers. While the degree to which these negative outcomes of the COVID vaccines can be debated, there is no question that enough disease and death have already occurred to warrant cessation of the administration of these vaccines until additional scientifically-based research can examine the balance between its now clear-cut side effects versus its potential (and still not yet clearly proven) ability to prevent new COVID infections. ![]() Although the mainstream media outlets might have you believe otherwise, the vaccines that continue to be administered for the COVID pandemic are emerging as substantial sources of morbidity and mortality themselves. ![]() 8/30/2023 0 Comments Freedom of assembly amendment![]() ![]() Public property belonged to the government, Holmes said, not to the people at all. By the end of the 19th century, no less an authority than Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. The right of assembly had a rough go for the first century and a half of the Constitution. When the new American government was formed, the Second Congress enacted the Militia Act, a more limited law governing “unlawful assembly.” Federal authorities could use force to break up assemblies only if they amounted to “insurrections”-and the act had to be invoked by the president himself, not by his appointees. The show of force that swept peaceful protesters from Lafayette Square in Washington, D.C., last night was an assault-and perhaps only one of a series of assaults-on that right. The right of assembly is an important First Amendment right, one treasured by the founding generation and the First Congress, which wrote the amendment, and one re-won two centuries later at great pain by the labor, civil-rights, and anti-war movements. The contrast is striking: On May 28, Donald Trump demanded the First Amendment right of free speech for himself on privately owned social media, and then, four days later, declared war on the people, gathered on public property, as they sought, in the words of the amendment itself, “to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” ![]() 8/30/2023 0 Comments Freedom statue capitol![]() That Congress created the Freedmen’s Bureau for war refugees, initiated the nation’s first progressive income tax, and passed the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution, which, when adopted by the states, abolished slavery.
